We nurture nature.

Pest Free Banks Peninsula / Te Pātaka o Rākaihautū is a collaborative programme to protect and enhance biodiversity on Banks Peninsula.

We are working towards this outcome through a dedicated programme of pest elimination, and partner, community and landowner engagement.

We intend to remove pests from 110,000 ha of Banks Peninsula, and to progressively expand our elimination programme into the Canterbury Plains in 2030.  We are creating a foundation of flourishing biodiversity that supports resilient communities and a resilient economy.

Pest Free Banks Peninsula plays a critical role in the delivery of the wider 2050 Banks Peninsula Ecological Vision and we are proud to be part of the nationwide Predator Free 2050 movement.

Ecological Vision

The Ecological Vision 2050 recognises Banks Peninsula as Canterbury’s biodiversity jewel; it is central to our economy, culture, recreation and sustainable future.

PFBP Strategy

Our work is defined by six clear, measurable and achievable outcomes. Our Strategy defines our approach to creating and sustaining a biodiverse future for our region.

Our Team

You’ll find our team clambering around the hills, valleys and communities of Banks Peninsula, laying down traps, monitoring bait stations, engaging with landowners and working shoulder-to-shoulder with our volunteer network.
